we've all heard it a million times:
the work is complex. and multi-layered. and it will never end.
first of all, that sounds TERRIBLE. also. it's not even true.
the work is simple...it's just not easy.
if you haven't clarified your mission, language,
or strategic approach to how you want to do the work,
you'll leave your team either wondering or wandering.
and neither of those will get any of us where we need to go.
when you want fast results, action can come before a plan.
in times like these, you need to slow down to speed up.
by taking the time to establish a DEI strategy,
it takes a bit longer, AND you'll get results you can count on.
sometimes progress gets derailed by our need to be nice. and there just isn't space for nice when you dismantle systems that oppress our friends, colleagues, and neighbors. there is, however, space for disrupting the status quo. TONS.
when it's simple, people understand what they're supposed to be doing.
complexity is overwhelming, confusing, and ineffective AF.
theory without practice is just talk.
if conversation was the solution we probably would've solved it by now.
it's time to put theory into action.
our bold approach isn't for everyone. neither is being exceptional.
our courageous approach will push you to be and DO your best.
we are all connected. your loss is ours.
so is your learning. and your progress.
AND. there's no neutral. you either perpetuate harm or disrupt it. period.
everyone deserves to thrive,
which means the suffering has to stop.
for all of us. in every area of our lives. even as we do the work.
